Nha Trang: A Jewel of Vietnamese Tourism
On the evening of July 13, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Ho An Phong attended the opening ceremony of the Nha Trang International Light Festival 2024. In his welcoming address, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong praised Nha Trang as “a precious gem of Vietnamese tourism” and described it as “an exceptionally ideal travel destination.”

Deputy Minister Ho An Phong highlighted that Nha Trang is not only renowned for its pleasant climate and stunning natural scenery but also for its rich cultural and historical heritage. Key attractions include the Po Nagar Cham Towers—an architectural masterpiece of the Cham civilization—and the Institute of Oceanography, which houses a diverse range of rare marine species. Nha Trang is also famous for its engaging tourism activities such as snorkeling, water sports, and visits to beautiful islands like Hon Mun and Hon Tam. The city’s tourism services are continuously improving, offering everything from luxurious resorts to comfortable hotels, ensuring a top-notch experience for visitors.

The Deputy Minister commended Khanh Hoa Province for its relentless efforts in enhancing infrastructure, protecting the environment, and ensuring the sustainable growth of tourism. In 2023, Khanh Hoa welcomed 7 million visitors, including about 2.1 million international tourists, accounting for 17% of all international visitors to Vietnam. The province's tourism revenue reached approximately 31,800 billion VND, representing 5% of Vietnam’s total tourism revenue. In the first half of 2024, Khanh Hoa attracted 5.2 million overnight visitors, including 2.4 million international tourists, with an estimated revenue of around 26,072 billion VND. “With these accomplishments, Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa has firmly established itself as a major tourism hub in the country, significantly contributing to the effective implementation of Resolution No. 82/NQ-CP dated May 18, 2023, which outlines key tasks and solutions for accelerating tourism recovery and sustainable development, as well as Directive No. 08/CT-TTg dated February 23, 2024, on comprehensive, rapid, and sustainable tourism development,” Deputy Minister Ho An Phong noted.

In his speech, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong, on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, commended the Khanh Hoa provincial government, sponsors, artists, and everyone involved in organizing the Nha Trang International Light Bay Festival 2024. He expressed confidence that the festival would further enhance Nha Trang's tourism, economy, and cultural profile, helping the province achieve its goal of welcoming and serving 9 million visitors in 2024. “With its immense potential and the unwavering commitment of its government and local residents, Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa is set to continue asserting its place on the global tourism map,” Deputy Minister Ho An Phong concluded.
