Attempts to connect with Indian tourism

The tourism industry tried to find new sources of visitors in the Indian market after the Covid-19 outbreak caused a severe decline in Chinese and Russian visitors to Khanh Hoa. It is time for enterprises on both parties to soon have specific products after making many efforts to promote cooperation in tourism growth.

Cooperation promotion

Recently, tourism-related activities have suffered greatly as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak. The Khanh Hoa tourism industry has pushed a range of events to draw visitors from India in an effort to revive tourism operations, particularly to boost the number of international visitors. The People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province and the Indian Embassy in Vietnam have jointly run a number of events in recent months to encourage commercial connections between the two parties in the tourism industry. The conference "Tourism of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa and India - A safe, friendly and attractive destination" was recently held in Nha Trang.

met to connect tourism of the two parties.

According to Mr. Le Huu Hoang, Standing Vice Chairperson of the Provincial People's Committee, Khanh Hoa tourism has partially recovered and developed in line with the current situation thanks to the involvement of the entire political system and the efforts of businesses, organizations, and people working in the field of tourism-related services. The conference to connect tourism cooperation between Khanh Hoa province and localities, organizations and businesses of India has just taken place in order to jointly restore and develop the tourism industry in a new period, with strict control on pandemic. “I hope through this event, it will help the two parties understand more about each other's products, services, and tourism. At the same time, we discussed, exchanged and unified tourism cooperation methods between localities and units in a practical and effective way in 2022 "- Mr. Le Huu Hoang shared.

In addition, it is anticipated that in June, the Indian Cultural Exchange event will take place in Khanh Hoa. In the months of July and August, the Provincial People's Committee and the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City will jointly organize a conference on cooperation in digital transformation, human resource development in science and information technology, building smart cities; promoting Indian tourism to the South Central provinces (Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan) and inviting Indian business delegations to survey tourism in the provinces, as well as promoting direct flights connecting Cam Ranh - India.

There's still a lot of work to do

With the largest population in the world, the Indian tourist market is a particularly enticing "piece of cake," according to representatives of travel agencies. With a middle class of up to 200–300 million people, this nation of more than 1.3 billion people has a high need for shopping, leisure, and consumption. Indian visitors enjoy drinking, eating, and partying in addition to enjoying beautiful resorts. They frequently travel in groups of friends or family members and spend a lot on their vacation. This market will be a very likely source of new clients if it is properly utilized.

However, there is still a lot of effort to be done to draw Indian tourists to Khanh Hoa for leisure and tourism. Since this is a multi-religious nation, tourists will come from various religious backgrounds. Businesses must therefore carefully understand how to satisfy various dining expectations for every type of tourist. Although Indians are also content, laid back, and kind, they have completely different standards for service. Travel agencies must therefore prepare sufficient human resources who are informed about Indian culture and people in order to quickly leverage this market. Organizations and the authorities should regularly organize events like roadshows and cultural and artistic exchanges to promote tourism destinations. This is what Thai tourism industry is doing very well.

Mr. Vu Dang Duy Phuoc - Executive Director of Cam Ranh International Terminal Joint Stock Company said that in order to create favorable conditions for Indian visitors, it is necessary to soon open direct flights to this country. The potential of India - Cam Ranh route is tremendous. The number of visitors traveling from India to Cam Ranh increased by 163 % and continued to rise in the first three months of 2020 before the Covid-19 epidemic occurred. The number of visitors will continue to increase if there were no impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, the opening of direct flights between India and Cam Ranh will contribute to effectively exploiting new sources of passengers, bringing development to the tourism industry.

Mr. Tran Minh Duc - Vice Chairperson of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, Chairperson of Khanh Hoa Travel Association, assessed that tourism connection activities between Khanh Hoa and India in the past time have shown promising signs. However, there is a process involved from promoting to establishing a tourism product. "We haven't sent a delegation to study the Indian market for a very long time; instead, only a few people voluntarily studied Khanh Hoa market. The first step in attracting Indian tourists is to launch direct flights to India as soon as possible; following this, the two countries' travel agencies should work together to develop targeted travel products, making the connection with India's tourism industry truly effective”, said Mr. Duc.
