An attractive country road in Nha Trang

The Cai River- Nha Trang flows through Khanh Vinh and Dien Khanh districts to Ngoc Hiep (Nha Trang City); the river splits into two branches in which one flows under Xom Bong Bridge and the other flows under Ha Ra Bridge to then pour into the sea. Near to downstream, before branching, the river flows through areas of Vo Cang, Vinh Thanh, Xuan Phong, Vinh Ngoc, Lu Cam...

From 23/10 Road, turn right onto Luong Dinh Cua street (formerly named as Huong lo 45) in Ngoc Hiep; Binh Cang church (Vo Cang) is in the end of the road, and then go back to 23/10 Road, it means that you  have gone a full circle along the Cai River (about 5km). In particular, this road is half like a street and half like a country lanewith a variousfood stallsselling countless specific dishes of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa and imported dishes from other provinces.

This winding road still has green trees, areca catechu trees, some bamboo groves and green or yellow rice fields depending on rice season. There is no longer the sound of horse-drawn carriages on the country road; therefore, many old feelings are lost even when there are still old houses, old yin-yang tiles or fish-scale tiles glistening under the leaves and groves of trees. Old traces made people nostalgic and could not help but feel grieved and blame time for passing by so quickly, the scenery has changed a lot!

Anyway, let's talk about dishes here. Starting from the beginning of Luong Dinh Cua Street, there are a lot of bustling shops. We still sees townhouses with city dishes such as pho, broken rice, noodles, beef noodle soup ... in this area.Keep going about 300m until you reach Ngoc Hiep market, you are going to have opportunities to enjoytrue dishes of the country such as: banh can (small pancakes made with quail eggs, cooked in small clay pans), banh xeo (fried rice cake with shrimp, pork and fish sauce), banh beo (steamed rice crepe), banh hoi (soft thin vermicelli noodles), banh uot (rice noodle roll)... Especially, it is the residence of people who come from different regions, so they bring here many native dishes. For example, Binh Dinh banh hoi, broken rice of the West of Vietnam, My Tho Clear Rice Noodle Soup (Nam Vang), Quang banh dap (rice noodle roll folding with grilled rice paper), bun cha (grilled pork balls with vermicelli), Hanoi pho, mixed rice paper, milk tea ... This abundance makes this cuisine road quite interesting because every need is satisfied here.

In particular, it is also the gathering place of non-typical dishes of Nha Trang such as pho, Quang style noodle soup, beef noodle, but Nha Trang residents have changed according to their own "taste" making these two dishes unforgettable for traveler. For example, beef noodle soup isserved with a variety of shredded vegetables and only cooked by usingbeef shank or pork trotter, which is different from its origin (Hue) where beef noodle soup is cooked withpork sausageand is served with fresh vegetables. Besides, Quang noodle soup in Nha Trang is simply bone-stewed water withoutspecial spices. If Quang style noodles are chopped up and have white and yellow colors and in a soft state (wet), Quang noodle soup inNha Trang is cooked with dry noodles which are finely chopped and have dark yellow; Quang noodle soup has meat (pork, beef) cooked in the forms of steaming or stir-frying, then Quang noodle soup in Nha Trang only has boiled meat and fish cakes. The most obvious difference is that bowl of Quang noodle soup in Nha Trang is filled with broth which is nearly covered noodles, which is different from just filling the bottom of the bowl like Quang origin noodle soup. In addition, Quang noodle soup inNha Trang is not served with baked rice paper...

From Ngoc Hiep market area, food stalls are quite abundant in dishes and houses here are built with urban style, which are always crowded and busiest in the area. Crossing the railroad tracks, the number of town houses gradually reduces, but there are still many food stalls. Next is Vinh Hoi afternoon market. Here you can find fresh fish and shrimp in the afternoon selling on both sides of the road.

Keep going to reach Vinh Ngoc market. Although it is not as big as Ngoc Hiep market, it is also full of products of Nha Trang and Dien Khanh regions. You can quickly buy some banh it (glutinous rice cake filled with meat or green bean paste, three-cornered patty), vermicelli, banh u (pyramid sticky rice cake), boiled corn, vegetables or a waxy pumpkin...

Then you will go to Phu Vinh village, which is famous for its ancient house tour. Passing through Phu Vinh, if you like, you can go to Binh Cang. Even though there are not a lot of food stalls there, they are quite delicious, or you can turn left to Vinh Thanh market, which is quite a big market where there are quite a number of food stalls serving cheap and delicious dishes.

So within 3 - 4 kilometers, you already go through 4 markets which are bearing a bit of countryside traces but do not lack anything in the city. Its food stalls are rich in dishes;it is not exaggerated to say that this could be seen as a Nha Trang miniature.
