 Ba Vu's Tomb
Update:9/8/2009

Location: Located in Ninh Hoa Town, Ninh Hoa District.
Direction:

This is the tomb dedicated to a lady who assisted a Nguyen King in the past. Legends run that as she had no children, the king gave a large piece of field for cultivation free from tax. Her anniversary birthday takes place on the 16th day of the twelfth lunar month.

The tomb was completed in 1804 after two years of construction. It stands solemnly on a high mound in Ninh Hoa Town, Ninh Hoa District. Its structure takes after the Chinese character of the word “Quoc”, facing a lotus pond to the south-east. Its three ramparts were made of limestone, sand and brick. The outermost rampart is 20m long, 14m wide and 1.5m high, surrounding  the overall structure with a small door guarded by two pink  lions. The inside of the wall is carved with pictorial tales linked with Confucianism and Taoism.

The tomb, surrounded by the remaining ramparts, is 12m in length, 0.9m in width, and 1.5m in height with an arch shape. Two skillfully carved unicorns are on either part of the gate. The tomb is marked by a stele carved with Classical Chinese characters recording her service to the feudal kingdom.
