 Tourism General Department signed cooperation agreement with Japan Hotel Association
(TITC) - In the afternoon of October 19, 2018, the signing ceremony of the memorandum of cooperation agreement between the General Department of Tourism and Japan Hotel Association in the field of tourism human resources exchange.

Overview of the signing ceremony

A memorandum of cooperation agreement was signed to promote the service quality development and improvement of the two-way accommodation system, thereby meeting to the increasing tourist demand, increasing the number of visitors exchange between the two parties in particular and international visitors in general.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Director General Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong said that the signing of this memorandum is one of the important events to concretize the Joint Declaration on tourism cooperation between the Vietnam General Department of Tourism and Japan Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport dated on April 5, 2005.

Deputy Director General emphasized that today Vietnam has transformed itself into one of the fastest growing economies in Southeast Asia. With 13 million international visitors arriving in Vietnam in 2017, Vietnam is a country with high international visitor growth rates in the region and in the world. Vietnam's tourism products are diversified and varied in line with Japanese consumers' tastes. So, in 2017, Vietnam has welcomed 798 thousand Japanese visitors, up 7.8% compared with 2016. Japan also became attractive destinations with Vietnamese tourists when 309 thousand Vietnamese visitors travel to Japan, up 32%. The government of Japan will allow businesses to receieve Vietnamese students in the hospitality industry to practice, short-term work at tourist accommodation is a milestone, the opportunity to Tourism training institutions in Vietnam and students to improve their professional skills, foreign languages ​​and working style.

Tada Keisuke, Chairman of the Japan Hotel Association, said that the Government of Japan has many policies to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese people to work in Japan, especially in the field of tourism and hospitality in the context of Japanese tourism boom. Therefore, Japan is ready to welcome young Vietnamese students to Japan to work in this field, and will develop a plan to train young workers so that they are willing to work and contribute to the development of tourism in Vietnam when coming back to their home country.

According to the content of the agreement, Vietnam Tourism General Department will advise and recommend training establishments or establishments having the function of training personnel in prestigious hotels and restaurants in Vietnam for the Association. The Association will provide personnel assessment program in hospitality for training institutions to refer, use, inspect and evaluate the capacity of personnel involved in recruitment for internship in Japan. After the inspection results, the training institutions will provide results to organizations or enterprises having the function and experience of labor export to Japan that the Association has proposed to Vietnam Tourism General Department to select, introduce for unions in Japan to recruit or directly recruit under the authority of the union.
